The downsides of hard water
Nearly everyone “lives” with hard water of some kind. Your water actually contains tiny particles of soft rock in the form of calcium suspended in the water.
This make your water “hard”. The amount of suspended rock in your water varies from region to region and will show up as a different reading of hardness.
- Nasty furred up pipe
How do you know if your water is hard? The signs are all around you. If you cut into pipe that caries your water around the house it may look like this pipe image on the right.
Obviously this is an extreme example and your pipes may not be as bad as this but how do you know?
Hot water pipes are usually the worst as the soft rock ‘precipitates’ out and sticks to the inside of the pipe. This is a continual process and is progressive.
